StudioDH Privacy Policy

We are fully committed to upholding the relevant data privacy laws, when it comes to collecting and using information about our clients and visitors to our website. Indeed, this very privacy policy is designed to aid our compliance with GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation.

We hope the following Q&A will answer any questions you might have about our Privacy Policy, and how we use your personal data, but please do feel free to contact us, should you be left in any doubt.

I only clicked on your website – what information do you have about me?

You haven’t necessarily given us any information – only if you accepted the use of ‘cookies’ the first time you visited our website (more info on this below), in accordance with EU cookie legislation. Even then, that data is only used to improve your experience of our site.

Of course, if you contact us using the form on our website, then we will obtain data about you – specifically, your name and email address.

In what other ways are you able to collect my personal data?

Your personal data may also be collected by us when you contact us by telephone or in person (please do – we’re always looking for an excuse to put the kettle on), to enquire about our services.

What kind of ‘personal data’ are we talking about?

·       Contact details (including names, postal addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers).

·       Details of your visits to our website including traffic and location data.

·       Images or footage of projects we undertake on your behalf, to be used in our marketing and social media (you do, of course, reserve the right to refuse this – we always ask for permission first).

How will you use my personal data?

We process personal information about you for the following purposes:

·       To provide you with information and services that you request from us.

·       To improve the content and methods of delivery of our website.

·       To maintain and develop our relationship with you.

·       For research, planning, service development, security or risk management.

·       To carry out services we have agreed to provide to you.

·       To comply with legal and professional obligations.

·       For marketing purposes.

Hmmm, ‘marketing purposes’… Does this mean you’re going to send me loads of emails?

With your permission, we also use your email address to occasionally let you know about Studio DH developments and promotions (we ask you to state your preference when we first make contact with you / when you fill out the online form). You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by replying to our emails with the word ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’.

You can also exercise your right to ask us not to process your personal information for marketing purposes, by emailing daniel@studiodh.uk  Please be aware that we will continue to use your contact details for the purposes of communicating with you about any projects you have already hired us to complete for you.

You mentioned ‘cookies’ earlier. What’s that all about?

When it comes to cookies, we prefer the crunchy kind that goes well with tea. But like most websites these days, ours uses cookies of a different kind. This article from the BBC explains what cookies are in a nice, simple way. For those who haven’t got the time to read it, here’s a little extract:

“When you visit a site that uses cookies for the first time, a cookie is downloaded onto your PC. The next time you visit that site, your PC checks to see if it has a cookie that is relevant (that is, one containing the site name) and sends the information contained in that cookie back to the site.

“The site then ’knows’ that you have been there before, and in some cases, tailors what pops up on screen to take account of that fact. For instance, it can be helpful to vary content according to whether this is your first ever visit to a site – or your 71st.

“You can change how cookies are stored on your machine by clicking on the 'Tools' menu in your internet browser, but you may find that the EU ‘cookie law’ implemented in 2012, means your concerns about privacy and your personal data have been addressed.

How safe is my personal data?

We do not sell on or rent out the information collected via our website, or otherwise provided to us. We may, however, disclose your information to third parties for one of the following reasons:

·       We are under a legal, regulatory or professional obligation to do so (for example, in order to comply with anti-money laundering requirements).

·       You have consented to us sharing your information in this way.

·       It is relevant in the circumstances to disclose the information to our website service providers (eg. disaster recovery).

·       If we believe your use of our website has violated or may violate any law or regulation, or if we believe you are or may be a threat to the safety, security, property, interests or rights of us or others.

·       If we use a third party service provider to provide services that involve data processing, translation, technology, research, banking and payment, client contact, data entry and processing, litigation support, marketing and security services and other similar services.

·       In order to investigate, respond to or resolve problems or inquiries, or defend our interests (including, but not limited to, professional indemnity insurers, brokers, auditors and other professional advisors).
